Hi everyone.

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me the differences between cecchetti and RAD ballet. I am moving away to go to school, and the studios where I am moving to only teach cecchetti. I have completed my RAD grade 5, and have been on pointe for two years. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what level I would be at in cecchetti (if possible)
THANKS!!!!

Dancerchic, I suspect the reason you didn't get any answer, is because there is no 'official' equivalence. People usually also stick to one method pretty much for all their training, and then, when they're old enough to tackle another method, they simply don't do it fully enough to know in details how to answer your question. They just learn 'notions' of the other method.

I personally know RAD pretty well, but have only 'heard of' the Cechetti method. I have 'heard' that the 2 are fairly similar in technique, so you should probably fall 'back on your feet' pretty quickly (I would imagine in a year, you'll know the major differences)
As for levels, I would advise you to go to the teacher you will have, ask that same question, and explain your current level. Then choose a class that 'seems' just under what you can achieve (so that you learn all the little nuances of the style) and progress from there (you would probably advance rather quicker than anyone else does, if you are now at elementary level in RAD, as you have probably understood the basics)
