 Post subject: developpes...aaaaahhh!

hi everyone!
i'm flexible, meaning i can do the splits etc, but whenever we do developpes (sp?) I can never get my leg very high. I know that this is to do with the overall strength in my legs, but is there anyway that i can improve this?
any input is much appreciated! :D
