i just started ballet lessons, but my class has been going on since august. i am afraid i will not learn the proper way to do all the beginner stuff, i am not looking to be a professional, just dance for fun, but i do want to be good.
are there books or tapes or something i can buy to help me uderstand what everyone else is doing?

Gail Grants Dictionary of Technical Terms is very good if you want to look up some of the terminology to understand the steps more.
Also Ballet Basics - Sandra Noll Hammond is another good one aimed at adult beginner students.
Thalia Mara also has a set of four books 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Steps in Ballet which break down the various components on a class into simple line drawings and has some good do's and dont's.
All the above are available from dancebooks.co.uk and probably amazon too.
Also speak to your teacher as he/she may have some good recommendations.
