ROH has safety policy rebuked
by Cameron Robertson in The Stage
Industry watchdogs have criticised the Royal Opera House for failing to secure a qualified replacement for Covent Garden's head of safety and for giving responsibility for the job to the ROH's personnel director.
Previous head of safety Phil Douglas recently departed the House but had been absent for several months.
Director of personnel Elizabeth Bridges has inherited his remit. Her takeover of the role has been defended by the ROH as a temporary solution but management has so far failed in its efforts to find a full-time successor.
click for more
How many times has the ROH burned to the ground - and they don't have a proper safety officer. Let's just hope 'fire' is a separate department and we're only talking dirty cutlery here.
