Hi caraqueen and welcome to criticaldance. Hope you find plenty to interest you here in the coming months.
The Place has dropped the 'Spring Loaded' package and their other festival formats such as 'Turning World'. The exception is 'Resolution!' in Jan/Feb for young companies.
However, The Place continues to show a large number of contemporary dance companies and can claim to be the busiest dance venue in Europe. In the past two weeks I have seen there a good young UK company, Red Dragon, plus Ultima Vez and Marie Chouinard. Here is the link to The Place website. The theatre has been renamed 'The Robin Howard Theatre':
http://www.theplace.org.uk/html/nav/thfr.htm
Dance Umbrella is one of the most significant contemporary/modern dance festivals worldwide and runs in London in October/November each year. The format is now heavily weighted to the leading companies worldwide plus a selection of UK companies. The 2002 programme has not been published yet, but here are the contact details for Dance Umbrella:
Call: 020 8741 5881
Email:

Can I suggest that you contact The Artists' Development Programme (previously Dance Services) for information. It is a membership organisation, but I believe enquirers are allowed 1 free enquiry. It may be worth subscribing, as their monthly newsletter Juice which has much detail about dance events, seminars, classes etc for the profession:
http://www.theplace.org.uk/html/nav/sefr.htm
Hope this is useful.

[This message has been edited by Stuart Sweeney (edited March 28, 2002).]
