Jenny Tattersall has resigned from the Royal Ballet and will leave at the end of the current season in August. She will be working independently initially and already has some projects lined up. For the avoidance of doubt, following criticaldance policy, this is not a rumour.

A lot of people have enjoyed Jenny’s dancing over the years, both on the main stage of the ROH and in smaller scale work in the Clore Studio, the Linbury and elsewhere. I remember a leading professor of dance going up to her after a show in the Clore and saying, ‘I’ve seen a lot of dancers in my time and you’re one of the best.’
This year her performance in ‘Vertiginous’ brought out the wit in Forsythe's choreography as well as effortlessly coping with the extreme pace of the work. She stood out in my view from the two casts of mainly Principals dancing in the work.
I’m sure we all wish her well in her new career path and look forward to seeing her dancing here, there and everywhere.

[This message has been edited by Stuart Sweeney (edited May 23, 2002).]
