CALLING ARTISTS OF LONDON

£4.7 million is available to the capital's artists through London Arts Development Fund

From April 2002, London Arts - the arts funding and development agency for the capital - is offering £4.7 million in grants to artists and arts organisations through its Development Fund programme.

In 16 strands, the London Arts Development Fund covers a wide range of art forms and opportunities. These include bursaries for travel and professional training; funds for the development and production of new work; and support for artists' residencies. An additional six funding strands are offered through London Arts' partner organisations.

London Arts promotes access to the arts for all Londoners. It seeks to support the work of disabled artists and work reflecting the cultural diversity of London. London Arts is seeking to broaden the range of people who apply for the 2002/3 Fund. Some specific objectives are to encourage artistic work from refugee communities and projects which strengthen the links between London's diverse communities and those of other world cities.

To obtain detailed guidelines and Development Fund application forms, please telephone 020 7608 6100, textphone 020 7608 4101, email info@lonab.co.uk, or visit www.arts.org.uk/londonarts. The guidelines and application forms are available in a variety of formats, including Braille, large print and audio tape.

London Arts is the arts funding and development agency for the capital, covering all 32 boroughs and the City of London. It is the largest of the ten regional arts boards. During 2002/3, London Arts will receive over £40 million in funding from the Arts Council of England, including Lottery funds. £4.7 million of this money will be distributed through the London Arts Development Fund.

London Arts supports the arts through:

- Grants to arts organisations on a fixed-term basis
- One-off grants through open application to the London Arts Development Fund and London's Regional Arts Lottery Programme
- Direct initiatives, often in partnership with other organisations
