Deborah Bull, director of the Artists' Development Initiative, writes:

quote:
Dear ADI Mailing List Member
I'm writing to let you know about a unique series of performances as the Royal Opera House's Artists' Development Initiative makes its second visit to the Linbury Studio Theatre.
Alongside its collaborations with independent artists and small scale companies, through initiatives like the annual Back Garden Project, part of ADI's work is to provide creative opportunities for dancers of The Royal Ballet outside their regular schedule. Last year's major project, Duo:logue, saw the dancers integrating with contemporary dance company, Random, to perform in new work by Wayne McGregor. This year, a second group of dancers has been working with award-winning choreographer Javier De Frutos, best known for his highly challenging dance pieces, as seen in the profile of de Frutos for ITV's The South Bank Show. In The Misty Frontier, de Frutos will be challenging his regular audiences once again: this time, by presenting ballet dancers on pointe.
The Misty Frontier takes as its starting point a meeting between the novelist Tennessee Williams and the choreographer George Balanchine, in Mexico in 1945, and the electric atmosphere that must have ensued. It will feature six dancers, including First Soloist Marianela Nunez, First Artists Emily Low, Nicole Ransley and Martin Harvey, and Artists Ernst Meissner and Jose Maria Tirado. Lighting design is by Michael Mannion.
The Misty Frontier will be presented for three performances only, on November 30th at 8pm and on December 2nd at 5pm and 8pm. Tickets are £10 & £8 (£5 concessions) and are available from the ROH Box Office on 020 7304 4000.
+++STOP PRESS+++ There are still a few tickets left for the next event in the ROH Education Department's 'Introduction to Ballet' series, on Friday 16 November at 7.30pm in the Linbury Studio Theatre. This particular evening will focus on how Royal Ballet dancers use classical ballet technique within the contrasting styles of pure classicism and some of the new and dynamic Royal Ballet repertoire, from Petipa to Wayne McGregor. Participants in discussion and demonstration include Deborah Bull, John Drummond, Tom Sapsford and Jenny Tattersall.
If you do not wish to receive information in this way, please contact Philippa Rooke, ADI Administrator, by email or at the address below.
Best wishes,

Deborah Bull
Director, ROH Artists' Development Initiative
