Below Jeanette Siddall writes about a threat to the dance infrastructure in the UK. For those who may feel this is all a bit remote from them, you may be interested that Lee Smikle from AMP's 'The Car Man' did his initial training at Swindon.

Lee Smikle in LAAs you will see below Swindon Dance serves the public and the dance community in a great variety of ways: ACT NOW - Save Swindon Dance Swindon Borough Council is proposing closing the Town Hall - the home of Swindon Dance in order to give more money directly to schools in the Borough following a critical Ofsted (schools inspection) report. Swindon Dance is used by over 48,000 people a year, provides community classes, residencies, performances, the foundation course in partnership with Swindon College, Dansconnect - and plays a critical role in dance locally, regionally and nationally. The loss of its home - its central location and facilities designed to meet the needs of dance - would be devastating for Swindon Dance and for dance. We cannot afford to lose any of our precious dance spaces! There is strong local support for Swindon Dance - and you can add your support. ACT NOW - consultation ends on 25 January.
