It is an emotional experience to write a panegyric for one who was my mentor for most of my career as producer in the thorny world of theatre politics. The chronicle of Hugh Jenkins' career in Who's Who is a litany of a brilliant political life. A committed socialist, he worked selflessly and tirelessly for his fellow man and for the world of theatre, often castigated by colleagues on both sides of the political spectrum.
