<big>Choreoforum 2004
Presented by Dance UK in association with Laban</big>

Choreoforum, Dance UK’s annual meeting of choreographers, takes place on 18 January 2004 at the inspiring new Laban building in Deptford in South East London.

Choreoforum is designed with and for choreographers working across the widest possible range of contexts. During the event, leading artists share their experiences of working as a choreographer through informal and lively presentations and discussions.

This year, Choreoforum focuses on the nature of choreography itself and how the choreographic sensibility finds expression in different places and different media. It will give participants the opportunity to ask what choreography means to them and find out what others thinks.

Presentations by choreographers and artistic collaborators will explore how the choreographic sensibility shows itself in different contexts and within different collaborations. A Chat Show at the end of the day will allow leading choreographers to share their experiences and there will be lots of time to network, chat and discuss ideas.

The keynote speaker for the event will be Mark Baldwin, choreographer and artistic director of Rambert Dance Company.

Free coaches between Laban and central London will be available for participants.

Tickets for the event cost £35 (Dance UK members) or £50 (non-members) including food and drinks. Tickets are also available for the Chat Show only.

A small number of bursaries towards attending the event are available to those who cannot meet the cost themselves.

Choreoforum 2004

Choreoforum, Dance UKs annual meeting of choreographers, takes place on Sunday 18 January 2004 at the inspiring new Laban building in Deptford in South East London.

Choreoforum is designed with and for choreographers working across the widest possible range of contexts. During the event, leading artists share their experiences of working as a choreographer through informal and lively presentations and discussions.

This year, Choreoforum focuses on the nature of choreography itself and how the choreographic sensibility finds expression in different places and different media. It will give participants the opportunity to ask what choreography means to them and find out what others thinks.

The keynote speaker for the event will be Mark Baldwin, choreographer and artistic director of Rambert Dance Company. Speakers will include Ruth Gibson and Bruno Martelli from Igloo, pioneers on the field of dance and technology and interactive animated performance, Alexandra Reynolds who choreographs for commercials and music videos alongside theatre, opera and fashion. Arlette Kim George will speak about the role of the dramaturg in choreographic productions.

A Chat Show, chaired by Alistair Spalding from Sadler's Wells, will allow leading choreographers to share their experiences, including Francesca Jaynes, who choreographed feature films such as A.I., The Lovely and Topsy Turvey, and numerous productions for television and theatre, including BBC2s Tipping the Velvet.
