Financial management - How to do it effectively Friday 17 October 2003

This seminar will be led by Tom Wilcox. Tom was formerly a Business and Finance Officer at London Arts. He is now Finance Manager at the Poetry Society and financial consultant to Siobhan Davies Dance Company and The Cholmondeleys & Featherstonehaughs. This seminar is aimed at independent dance artists and dance managers. It will guide you through a range of financial management systems, explain some common terminology and help you to find ways to manage your finances effectively.

Media Relations for Dance Artists & Dance Administrators Friday 14 November 2003

Amanda Jones, Head of Press and Public Relations at the Barbican, London, will lead this seminar. The seminar will examine different ways of communicating with the media and how to get the best results if you are not a specialist and both time and money are limited. This seminar is aimed at independent dance artists and dance administrators and managers.

Madeline Hutchins will lead this seminar. Madeline has worked as a freelance trainer, consultant and facilitator, specialising in learning and the legal and people aspects of arts management, for 23 years. This seminar will explore the principles of copyright in relation to artistic collaborations. There will be a particular focus on work that is developed collaboratively and how to protect this when drawing up contracts. This seminar is aimed at independent dance artists and dance administrators and managers.

Insights to writing successful grant applications Friday 23 January 2004
2.00 – 5.30pm
This seminar will be led by Fern Potter. Fern is an experienced and accomplished fund-raiser who is currently working as development manager with George Piper Dances. The seminar will examine various approaches to fund-raising and the key ways to make stronger applications to public funding agencies as well as private trusts and charities. This seminar is aimed at independent dance artists and dance administrators and managers.
Places at the seminar are available free of charge. Please note that places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first served basis.
