The Gulbenkian Programme

Dance UK is delighted to announce the launch of The Gulbenkian Programme to support the professional development of choreographers.

The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation provided funding last year for a pilot programme, and has now provided additional funding to extend and develop the programme for this year.

The Gulbenkian Programme will include:

Bursaries for choreographic observerships: To enable choreographers to observe a colleague working in another area of choreography, including film, opera, theatre or any kind of dance-led production. Proposals can be made by a choreographer either offering a placement or seeking an opportunity to observe.

Bursaries for assistant choreographer placements: To enable experienced choreographers to offer practical work-experience opportunities. Choreographers will select their assistant and be responsible for planning and overseeing their work.
There is no deadline for either type of bursary, choreographers can offer a placement or send an application any time during the year. For further information and application form please contact Dance UK.

Other opportunities included in the Gulbenkian Programme:

Open Door Project: Intensive creative laboratory for selected choreographers and theatre directors, developed in collaboration with the Young Vic and Kate Flatt of Middlesex University.

Professional Skills Training sessions

Choreoforum: Annual meeting of choreographers.
