Initial information about an exciting new project, from londondance.com:
Physical Justice is a new and innovative east london dance agency project, pushing dance into a new context and introducing dance to new partners. It is funded by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation (£60,000) and the Arts Council of England ‘Dance Included’ Programme (£20,000)
The aim is to produce a model of new practice for dance that will then be disseminated nationally. The project will include research, training, pilot and delivery phases, the main aims being:
to equip dance artists with the necessary skills to deliver high quality dance work to young people within the youth justice system
to provide access to dance for 300 young people currently on youth offending team schemes thus tackling crime, a pertinent social exclusion issue.
