What is the most depressing e-mail I receive each week? No, not another "get-rich-quick" scheme from the widow of ex-President Abacha, it's the BBCi arts e-newsletter.
This covers fine art news and openings, heritage news, literary news, theatre news, new theatre productions, arts highlights on TV and radio. Yes that's right - no dance or ballet, unless Darcey Bussell is injured.
Coverage of dance on the BBC TV stations is weak, but on their website it's amost non-existent. There is an occasional bit of news like Ross Stretton resigning on their website page, but little else:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/arts/ What have they got against dance?
Does it matter? Given that the BBC website is one of the most visited sites worldwide, I think this prejudice against the art form we love does matter.
Does this matter to you? If so, why not subscribe to the BBCi newsletter from the page given above and then e-mail them with your views about their non-acknowledgement of the existance of dance.
On the other hand if dance doesn't matter and you can't be bothered....
