Raised in Kent, she was secretary to Labour MP Herbert Morrison, before the war. In 1943, she began teaching ballroom dancing. With her husband Frank, she founded the Royston Ballroom in Penge, and became renowned for her tuition of formation dancing. Her workshop, Ballroom Blitz, takes place at the Royal Festival Hall, London, on August 18.
