You're right sugar plum. I saw him in the role 5 years or so ago and he was very, very good.

I will be going to see the programme on Thursday. Did anyone see the Winter Dreams video featuring Bussell and Mukhamedov, Dowell and Durante. It is rather splendid. Anyone going to the programme this week?

Whilst I am sure Urlezaga will make a good job of partnering Bussell, I am sad Cope is injured. Do we have news of HOW injured?

I went to a rehearsal on Saturday, the energy for which was as good as any performance I've seen. I've just come home from the first night and will go on Thursday. I'll write more later but just wanted to say how much I adored Scenes de ballet - it's simply one of the most beautiful ballets I've ever seen and compeletly engaging throughout. Winter Dreams - I was unsure about the video but I liked the performance a great deal though it was a little long at 50 minutes. Urlezaga was fine - better than I expected. I was disappointed with Sinfonietta which I found kinda dull. It started joyfully, and the dancers were lovely but I felt like there wasn't any substance to the choreography and in the end it's just a lot of jumping. I'll be curious to read the critics take on it.

The cast change is on the ROH website here. Cope's still down for his final performance in Winter Dreams so hopefully he's not seriously injured. I'll edit the cast list above.

Emma,

I just saw the Winter Dreams video, and it is very good. Winter Dreams as well as the Summer pas de deux in the Mukhamedov feature on that tape make me want to see much more of Macmillan's choreography. Durante and Mukhamedov have really good chemistry in that little pas de deux. That's the first time I've seen Durante as well, and she's a beautiful dancer.

Jonathan Cope is still injured unfortunately and won't be dancing in Winter Dreams on Tuesday 28th January. He's replaced by Inaki Urlezaga. From the ROH website.
