There is a full-page advertisement in tonight’s Evening Standard for the Moiseyev Dance Company. They are appearing at the Apollo Hammersmith 3rd-7th November.

Seems their programmes now include examples of international dance in additional to their usual repertoire from the former Soviet republics.

You are right, Cassandra. I saw them not long ago, and they were terrific and they have widened the array of dance they present.

You might want to read a previous thread on them:

Moiseyev

I hope you see them and give us your impressions.

Not a lot around about the visit on the Internet yet, but ticketmaster has the details of the dates and times.

Have you seen them before Cassandra?

Sorry for the clunky format due to the size of the URL.

The last time I saw dancers from the Moiseyev Co. was at the same Hammersmith venue. Six of them were appearing as the "Moscow Folk Ballet" in the show Riverdance. I'm not sure many people were aware they were actually Moiseyev dancers. Subsequent Russian cast members when the company formed into touring groups were also from Moiseyev.

I saw Riverdance five times I'm afraid and I even liked Michael Flatley. Oh dear, has this confession just blown my credibility on this board?

No, we're an eclectic bunch here Cassandra and the Riverdance concept was and is a winner. It's just that a few of us have concerns about the size of Mr Flatley's EGO.

The American reviews suggest that the Moiseyev should be an excellent show for those of us who enjoy Russian dance.

Here is the review for an excellent Russian show from last year by the National Folk Dance Ensemble of Bashkortostan.
