The Rambert Autumn tour hits the road next week for a hectic 2 months. This is where we will post all the latest news and newspaper coverage. We also hope to get comments from dance fans around the country and would love to have your feedback. So don't worry if you've never done it before. A few words would be great, but if you want to write more you might like to look at our beginners' guide to reviewing.

The tour features the new-to-the-company Kylian "Study from Blackbird" and the world premier of their new Wayne McGregor work "PreSentient".

In addition audiences around the UK and beyond see some other super work including Rambert's excellent take on Cunningham's "Ground Level Overlay", the hilarious "The Parade's Gone By" and two recent successful Christopher Bruce creations "Grinning in Your Face" and "Hurricane", where the choreographer's social concerns are once again eloquently expressed.

Rambert Dance Company comes to The Lowry

PASSION, intrigue and glamour from the golden age of Hollywood come in a pulsating parody of a package entitled The Parade's Gone By when Rambert Dance Company bring their forthcoming tour to The Lowry next Wednesday.

And the piece, by Lindsay Kemp, might well see artistic director Christopher Bruce making an appearance himself on at least one of the nights.

"You've got to keep your hand in, otherwise you might be asking other dancers to do something that's impossible," he laughs. The tour marks the company's last one with Bruce as artistic director, but he rejects any suggestion that he must feel a little ambivalent about the prospect.

"Oh no, every performance is important," he protests. "This programme is a particularly strong one. You never feel you can sit back."

Hi there - I'm new to this site but certainly not new to the Rambert - so apologies if I'm in the wrong place.But saw the company last night at the Lowry and what a joyous satisfying evening. Ok so the packed house with hundreds of children made it feel like I was in the audience of Crackerjack, but what a response. All the pieces were stunning and I could have sat through every performance this week. Come back to the Lowry soon. I think I first saw the Rambert back in the early 70's at the Royal Northern College. One piece I remember from the 80's featured the stage littered with a car crash and its debris with the music coming from the car radio, as the dead bodies danced their farewell. Any clues as to what that was? I think it was around the time of the Tetley Tempest. Sorry if I get the details all mixed up.

Thanks for your comments report Barry and looking through the rep for the Lowry (see first post here) I can see that it is very strong with a real mix of contemporary dance styles from "Hurricane" to "Ground Level Overlay".

The school students do give Rambert performances a distinctive feel and some get very irritated with the crisp and sweet wrappers. But for me it seems a real investment in the future of dance and Rambert's record in Education is exemplary.

By the way how do you like the Lowry auditorium Barry? It's one of my favourites.

Im writing from Rambert and I have asked our archivist for the name of the piece that you describe. She tells me that it is called The Accident and was choreographed by Zoltan Imre in 1977.
Im glad that you enjoyed the performance at The Lowry.

Sorry to be a dissenting voice, but having avidly followed Rambert since the late '60s, I was profoundly disappointed by most of the programme at the Lowry on Saturday 28th September.

"Study From Blackbird" was sublime - as accomplished as anything I have seen by Rambert.

"Hurricane" was well enough danced, but dull and tediously repetitive.

Perhaps we caught the company on a bad day for "Ground Level Overlay" and "The Parades Gone By". Each of them seemed simply workaday performances with scant evidence of the interpretive flair, style and excitement that I have always associated with Rambert. These two dances, at least on that evening, seemed more suggestive of Northern Ballet Theatre in rehearsal than the wonderful company I have loved and supported for all these years.

I hope that it was just an off day.

Im thinking back to seeing Ground Level Overlay and The Parades Gone By at Sadlers Wells and I have to say that I enjoyed both a lot. But hey! It would be a boring world if we all thought the same.

Did anyone else catch the Lowry performances.

This tour is the swansong for Rambert's artistic director Christopher Bruce, who, after nearly nine years in the job, hands over to Mark Baldwin at the end of this year. The present dancers ooze excellence. Sharp and incredibly versatile, their contemporary moves undercut with classical technique, they are a credit to their artistic leader and a joy to watch.
This four-part programme is nothing if not diverse: the naked beauty of Jiri Kylian's duo from Blackbird; Bruce's punch-packing plea for justice, Hurricane (well danced by Simon Cooper, but lacking the mercurial quality of David Hughes, for whom it was made); Merce Cunningham's extraordinary kaleidoscope of cyber-dance, Ground Level Overlay; the revival of Lindsay Kemp's wonderful Hollywood romp, The Parades Gone By. It was a night to get kids whistling and pensioners waving their programmes.
