The Royal Ballet season begins at Covent Garden on October 17 with a revival of Natalya Makarova's fine staging of La Bayadere. Love, jealousy, fabled India, a poisonous snake, ghosts of temple dancers and some blissful Petipa choreography - plus the splendid Tamara Rojo, Carlos Acosta and Marianela Nunez to lead the first cast.
