Jan De Schynkel has performed throughout Europe with among others Netherlands Dans Theatre II and with Rambert Dance Company. His solo for Adam Cooper, Can't Bark - highlighted 1st Class Air Male in 2000. He now brings together a group of leading dance artists to present a preview evening of new work before beginning a national touring throughout the UK.


She is as he Eats, for six dancers, with music by Nicholas Lens (from The Fire Requiem) and Michael Gordon (Trance from Icebreaker), is a fast moving, teasing and manipulative piece which delves into various encapsulations of relationships.

With music by Henryk Gorecki and Mauricio Kagel, Now Blind Yourself aims to redefine the line between installation art , ballet and contemporary dance, and theatre; five highly trained dancers, two mature actors, a fantastical script by Royal Court young writer Louise Ramsden, installations by Michael Burton,an inflatable set...

This is a unique opportunity to see the work of Bark! after a week long residency at the Wolsey Studio in Ipswich.

The men tilt backwards awkwardly, tripping along on the balls of their feet. The women distort their faces, pulling their noses up and lips down into obscene slits.
The bizarre side of human physicality fascinates Belgian choreographer Jan De Schynkel. His new work for his talented company, Bark Dance Productions, pushes movement in surreal directions. Bodies are twisted, flung and swung into improbable contortions.

Now Blind Yourself is a multimedia work featuring art installation, theatre, ballet and contemporary dance. Just the dance section was shown in Leeds. It is a compelling mix of balletic beauty and off-the-wall grotesquerie.
