Ballet brings in city's new year From BBCi
City centre revellers will get a taste of ballet this new year
The centre of Newcastle is to be transformed into a ballet stage as part of an artistic start to 2004.
Internationally renowned choreographer Liv Lorent is recreating her award winning performance of The Ball at the city's Grey's Monument.
It will be the centrepiece of a cultural New Year Eve to mirror the usual scenes of festive revelling, for which Newcastle has become famous.
Adding to the spectacle will be fabulous costumes, designed by Newcastle-based couture designer Paul Shriek.
