URBIS will be turned into a huge projection screen today as part of a spectacular all-day first birthday bash for Manchester's newest world-class attraction.

The self-styled "museum of modern life" was hosting 12 hours of dazzling entertainment in Cathedral Square including African drummers, Chinese dragon dances and demonstrations of Tai Chi.

The day will end with a spectacular light show projected directly onto the surface of the four-floor building.
