The David H. Koch Theatre (formerly known as the New York State Theatre) at Lincoln Center is scheduled to reopen on November 5, 2009, following a period of closure for renovation. Robin Pogrebin discusses the changes in The New York Times:

New York City Ballet is adding four weeks of repertory programming in September and October 2010 -- their first Fall Season since 1965. The additional weeks come at the expense of New York City Opera's programming, which is being curtailed for budgetary reasons. Robin Pogrebin reports in the New York Times.

This same thing happens in San Francisco where the Opera and the Ballet share the War Memorial Opera House. It is maybe sad that the Opera's loss is the Ballet's gain, but I love seeing more dance in these big theaters.
