Caroline Miller appointed Director of Dance UK

Dance UK is delighted to announce the appointment of Caroline Miller as its new Director. Caroline will take up this position from the 30 January 2006.

“I am very pleased that Caroline is joining Dance UK as Director at this exciting time for the organisation. Caroline’s skills, experience and expertise will be extremely valuable in leading Dance UK’s work with the sector on advocacy and lobbying for dance.”

Caroline is currently Head of Publicity at Phaidon Press, the international arts book publisher and has 13 years experience of working in media relations and marketing for dance, performing and visual arts. She began her career as the marketing officer for Colchester Arts Centre, and moved on to become the press officer for the Institute of Contemporary Arts, where she worked with performance artists including Stellarc, Franko B and Orlan. She went on to become the Performing Arts Press Relations Manager for the South Bank Centre, and then the Press Manager of Sadler's Wells. She has worked with all scales of dance companies, and a wide variety of dance, from Wayne McGregor and Random Dance, to the principals of New York City Ballet, Paul Taylor Dance Company, Ballett Frankfurt and Pina Bausch. Since joining Phaidon as Head of Publicity in 2003, Caroline has worked with major photographers, artists, architects and fashion designers.

Caroline Miller is well known in the dance community through her publicity work at the South Bank Centre and Sadler's Wells. I was always impressed with her energy and the way she looked after the press, including CD. since leaving Sadler's for her current publishing job she has remained a regular visitor to dance events, indicating her love of the art form.

DanceUK is a valuable part of the dance infrastructure over here and we look forward to continuing the good relations we maintain with this organisation, which is well known within the professsion and almost unknown outside.
