Two years later and now the interest on the bonds has become an issue between the Seattle City Council, Seattle Opera and Pacific Northwest Ballet. Front page news in both of the Seattle daily papers on Thursday, November 11, 2004.

Seattle Opera is now claiming that they signed a letter agreeing to shoulder the burden of unfunded costs through a surcharge on ticket sales only under duress. Pacific Northwest Ballet is (wisely) saying absolutely nothing. Kathy Mulady reports in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer:

I have resurrected this thread because Danny Westneat, a local opinion columnist writing in the Seattle Times, has made some interesting comparisons between the situation of the Seattle Sonics (NBA basketball team) and Pacific Northwest Ballet regarding the financing of new performance facilities.
