Outside, the far end of the Grade-A listed granite building boasts an airy glass and granite extension with an expansive box-office counter – no more squashing and jostling for tickets at the wee porthole in the original foyer. And inside? Well, part of the £7.8m spent on refitting the venue has gone towards a painstaking restoration of the decor in the auditorium.
