(Posted as a public service -- for further information, please contact the address below, not me)<P><BR>Job Vacancy Notice<P>Position Title: Company Manager<BR>Start Date: April 1, 2002 <BR>Schedule: 40 hours per week<BR>Salary: $36,000-$40,000 commensurate with experience <P> AXIS Dance Company is a San Francisco Bay Area based modern dance company comprised of dancers with and without physical disabilities. Founded in 1987, the company has become known for setting high artistic and educational standards in the emerging field of physically integrated dance. Our repertory includes works by Stephen Petronio, Bill T. Jones, Joe Goode, Joanna Haigood, Sonya Delwaide, and AXIS choreographers. The Company also maintains an extensive education/outreach program Dance Access and its youth component<BR>Dance Access/KIDS. Described as a "visual and physical discovery," AXIS offers audiences a unique experience in dance. AXIS has been presented in major theaters at home and abroad. AXIS has received many prestigious arts grants and awards from local and national foundations and recently<BR>garnered three Isadora Duncan Dance Awards.<P> AXIS has an annual budget of around $250,000, an earned income base and a <BR>consistent track record of support from public and private sources. The Company Manager is responsible for working with the Artistic Director, Program Director, and Board of Directors to run and maintain a small but busy dance company.<P>Essential Responsibilities:<BR>- Oversee all aspects of office management; with Artistic Director establish <BR>and maintain budget.<BR>-Implement development projects such as fundraising mailings, and benefit<BR>performance events. Assist in the grant research and writing process.<BR>- Maintain and expand booking contacts; develop and implement booking<BR>plan. <BR>- Facilitate arrangements with travel agents, airlines, presenters, and transportation services, assist with Company itinerary and per diem calculations.<BR>-Research and oversee production of press materials and coordinate their distribution to presenters, the press, the media and potential sponsors.<BR>-Act as liaison between Company and presenters, collaborating artists,<BR>media and the press.<BR>- Work cooperatively with Artistic Director, Program Director and administrative assistants, interns, or volunteers.<P>Qualifications: Previous arts administration experience and knowledge of the <BR>dance world. Strong verbal and written communication skills; excellent organizational skills; ability to set and/or meet external and internal deadlines; manage multiple projects simultaneously; the ability to work both independently and as part of a team; an interest in contemporary<BR>performance and the arts.
