Livermore arts theater could grow in size

LIVERMORE - The City Council has given the private, nonprofit Livermore Valley Conference and Cultural Center some flexibility to expand the larger of two downtown performing arts theaters from the originally envisioned 1,500 seats -- to perhaps 1,800 seats, or more.
The city's existing agreement with the nonprofit group calls for planning a 1,500-seat theater.
But LVCCC board President Phil Wente on Monday night asked the council for flexibility to go larger if deemed warranted economically and in terms of design.
