Admit problem over lack of minority participation in arts, Lib Dems tell ACE

Liberal Democrat spokesman for culture, media and sport Don Foster has attacked Arts Council England’s record on ethnic minorities, following the publication of the organisation’s annual report.

Foster drew attention to figures within ACE’s report, which appear to show that ethnic minority attendance and participation have both fallen over the past four years.

Haymarket case may spell trouble for ACE

Whoever it was at Great Peter Street that coined the phrase ‘disinvestment’ as an alternative to ‘axing grants’ had the donor in mind rather than the recipient. Withdrawal of a venue’s entire arts council subsidy is not going to sound any sweeter to the victim, however one tries to describe it.

ACE axes 42 head office staff in war on job doubling

Arts Council England is to cut 42 jobs at its Great Peter Street headquarters as part of a scaling-down of the national office recommended in a recent independent review of the organisation.

Some 21% of permanent staff will be lost, saving approximately £2 million a year, in an attempt to reduce any remaining duplication with ACE’s regional offices.
