Anyone making their way along St James' Boulevard in Newcastle yesterday afternoon would have been forgiven for assuming open air rehearsals were under way for a new Full Monty-inspired dance show.

Burly men in hard hats took centre stage at the dusty building site - each with a graceful female partner, whom they swung around with gusto.

Dance complex gets £7.5m revamp
From BBCi


More than £7m is to be spent redeveloping an award-winning dance centre on Tyneside.
Newcastle's Dance City will use the money to rebuild a new complex away from its present Peel Lane site, with new studios, a dance lab, education centre and cafe.

Cash for the project has come from the Arts Council, Newcastle City Council and a number of charitable trusts.
