I received this from Bonnie Homsey yesterday (quoted by permission): "Unfortunately, I have been forced to close American Repertory Dance Company due to the harsh public and private funding reductions the arts are facing here in California. I simply could not remain true to my artistic vision with minimal touring and grant support any longer. The compromises that would have resulted would not serve ARDC's mission" The American Repertory Dance Company was, in their own words, dedicated to the "piecing together and restoring 40 rarely-seen solos and duets by the first and second generation modern dance creators. We were intent on safeguarding potentially lost artistic achievements of the American modern dance legacy." Their repertory included works by Graham, Duncan, Wigman, and Humphreys (among others), as performed by dancers such as Rachel Berman and Janet Eilber. [ 25 July 2004, 07:54 AM: Message edited by: salzberg ]
