Dancers at Ballet West were knocked off balance Monday by news that their season contract will be reduced from 38 to 37 weeks. The one-week layoff is being blamed on decreased donations, losses on investments and declining receipts from Salt Lake County's Zoo, Arts and Parks (ZAP) tax. more

More fiscal problems in Utah:

To put its budget back in the black, Ballet West will drop its poorly attended fall repertory program, and begin its 2005-06 season with "The Nutcracker" next December.
