Brighton Dome shortfall due to ‘unrealistic’ business plan

A local authority scrutiny committee set up to investigate the circumstances behind Brighton Dome’s financial shortfall in 2002, which lead to it receiving millions of pounds in emergency funds over a three year period, has blamed unrealistic projects in the management’s business plan for the deficit.

I believe The Dome is constructed out of the former Royal Mews of the Brighton Pavillion and it has a wide stage that makes it excellent for ballet. I actually saw a performance of "Swan Lake" performed by the St Petersburg Ballet Theatre there over the new year period and can confirm that they played to a highly enthusiastic capacity audience.

A great shame if this venue gets into trouble.
