The Alpha Omega Theatrical Dance Company celebrates its 45th anniversary with a program of works by Eleo Pomare and company artistic director Enrique Cruz DeJesus. A highlight of the program will be Pomare's acclaimed "Narcissus Rising," the 1968 solo that helped propel the choreographer into the forefront of modern dance. Originally danced by Pomare, the leather & chains biker will be danced by Donna Clark, whose rendering of the dance inspired Claudia La Rocco to state that "bikers chicks rule!" (The New York Times, Nov. 2008). Also by Pomare is his "Radeau" (Raft), depicting a sea voyage to safety from strife-torn Haiti, and his 1967 Las Desenamoradas, set to music by Coltrane and based on Lorca's play "House of Bernarda Alba." By DeJesus is the world premiere of his "Mending Minds," inspired by caretakers and asking the question "who will care for the caring?" Also his playful "Evolution," set to the irresistible rhythms of Tito Puente. November 18 at 8 PM; November 19 at 3 PM at Ailey Citigroup Theater, 405 West 55 Street. Tickets: $25 ($35 for opening night performance and reception following). Reservations: 1.800.838.3006
