H.T. Chen & Dancers will appear in one of their popular Teahouse Performances in works informed by Chinese history and culture. Teahouse events are curated programs that provide both food for thought and refreshments (the evening starts at 7 with a serving of dim sum). The program of H.T. works consists of excerpts from "spring Song," "Transparent Hinges," a 1997 dance that gives poetic voice to the dramatic struggle to weave together two cultures in order to become Chinese-Americans; "Mott Street," capturing the spirit and rhythm of NYC, and "South of Gold Mountain," an impeccably researched work that tells the little-known story of the thousands of Chinese immigrants who came to America and settled in Southern states, helping to build railroads, bridges, and more. December 8, 7 PM, Chen Dance Center, 70 Mulberry St.. Tickets: $15; Reservations: 212.349.0126
