BY WILLIAM FORSYTHE
ONE NIGHT ONLY!
Sunday, June 7, 2008 - 6:30 pm
Marion Oliver McCaw Hall
321 Mercer Street, Seattle Center
SEATTLE, WA - Pacific Northwest Ballet wraps up its acclaimed 2008-2009 season with
A CELEBRATION OF LOUISE NADEAU. Principal dancer Louise Nadeau will take her final
bows following a remarkable 19-year career with Pacific Northwest Ballet on Sunday,
June 7, at 6:30 p.m. at McCaw Hall. This one-night-only program will feature PNB's
entire company and will give its audience the opportunity to pay tribute to this
distinguished ballerina. A CELEBRATION OF LOUISE NADEAU features excerpts from
George Balanchine master works: Serenade, La Valse, Emeralds, Rubies, and Chaconne;
excerpts from Jerome Robbins' West Side Story Suite and the third pas de deux from
In the Night; and Act IV of Kent Stowell's Swan Lake as well as a surprise or two.
The performance will also include the PNB premiere of Urlicht, a William Forsythe
pas de deux specially acquired for this performance. Tickets to A CELEBRATION OF
LOUISE NADEAU may be purchased by calling the PNB Box Office at 206.441.2424, online
at
www.pnb.org or in person at the PNB Box Office at 301 Mercer Street. Pacific
Northwest Ballet's 2008-2009 Season is proudly sponsored by Microsoft and The John
Graham Foundation, as well as 4Culture, ArtsFund, Scandinavian Airlines and
Washington State Arts Commission.
"Already captivating when I first saw her at sixteen, I've had the pleasure of
watching and knowing Louise as a talented student, as a treasured member of three
companies, and as a coach, teacher, photographer, and friend," said Peter Boal
earlier this year, in his announcement of Ms. Nadeau's retirement. "Louise is a
rare, irreplaceable artistic treasure. She embodies the ethereal lightness of
ballet, carries us away with her acting, shocks with spot-on wit, and always fills
the stage with warm humanity. Our lives are richer for having watched Louise
perform. She reminds us of the heights our profession can attain."
Louise Nadeau will perform in four of the pieces scheduled for the evening
(indicated below by **.) The line-up for A CELEBRATION OF LOUISE NADEAU includes:

"The sheer beauty of her dancing as Odette had an almost spiritual quality to it.
She was magical." -- R.M. Campbell, Seattle Post-Intelligencer
"[Ms. Nadeau danced] with the dramatic flair and lyrical beauty that's become her
trademark. The difference between the two characters was striking - if you sat in
the back, you might have thought it was two different dancers - making the role a
marvelous showcase for Nadeau's charisma and skill...Nadeau is one of the company's
treasures."-- Moira Macdonald, The Seattle Times
