TWO WORLD PREMIERES HIGHLIGHT
INLET DANCE THEATRE DANCEWORKS PERFORMANCES
APRIL 23-26, 2009

April 11, 2009 – Inlet Dance Theatre is pleased to return to Cleveland Public Theatre’s DanceWorks series. A perennial DanceWorks favorite, Inlet Dance Theatre’s engagement is marked by a diverse repertoire highlighted by world premieres from Inlet Artistic Director/Founder Bill Wade and guest choreographer Randall Flinn.

“This DanceWorks engagement for Inlet is particularly exciting,” stated Wade. “We titled the theme of the performances ‘Reflections’ because all of the works have personal memories attached to them. From Doppleganger – a work I created eight years ago with Cleveland School of the Arts students and updated for this engagement, to Memoriate – a work centered on the elderly and those who care for them, Legacy – a work about ones life story, or Te Pito o te Henua which is inspired by the lasting influence of Inlet’s 2008 trip to Easter Island. The reflective thread throughout each work promises audiences a journey to where we have been as individuals and a promising nod to where we are going as a company.”

A partial listing of the diverse pieces being performed include the world premiere of phase one of the highly-anticipated work inspired from Inlet’s international artist exchange with Easter Island. The four sections of phase one from Bill Wade and the Inlet dancers, entitled Te Pito o te Henua (translated as navel, or center of the world), explore distinct aspects observed in Rapa Nui culture. Inlet will also present the world premiere of Legacy by internationally-acclaimed, Houston-based choreographer Randall Flinn. Additionally being staged will be a remounting of Wade’s successful acrobatic Doppleganger, Memoriate - a loving tribute to the elderly and their caretakers, and a remounting of Wade’s duet There is a Fountain.

A special Saturday Educational Matinee performance, specifically geared toward family audiences, is being staged at 3:00 p.m. touting the exceptional work students are doing through Inlet Educational Inflow Programming. Students of Inlet’s Class Offerings, the Inlet Youth Ensemble, the Inlet Trainee Program (premiering Wade’s Takes Two), and a new work created by Inlet company member Mikaela Clark and Inlet Trainee Mackenzie Clevenger will further demonstrate how Inlet is using dance to further people.

Inlet Dance Theatre will perform at Cleveland Public Theatre’s Levin Theatre, April 23-26, 2009. Performances are Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. with a Saturday and Sunday matinee at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are range from $10 - $20. Tickets are now available at the Cleveland Public Theatre box office by calling 216-631-2727. Cleveland Public Theatre is located at 6415 Detroit Road in Cleveland, Ohio. Visit www.cptonline.org.
