Threshold

Cornish Junior Dance Company

In performance

Seattle, Wash. April 8, 2009 - Cornish Junior Dance Company presents Threshold.
Each day we see the young people in the Cornish Dance
Studios taking chances, making decisions, finding their boundaries and extending
them. They are becoming individuals and artists. They are on the threshold of
their future. The company will perform at the Shorecrest Performing Arts Center on
Sunday, May 17th, 2009. Steve Casteel, former soloist with Houston Ballet and
Cornish College of the Arts adjunct faculty member, has restaged the Pas de Trois
from Swan Lake. Brenna Monroe-Cook, formerly of the Limon Dance Company has set a
new work "From Lullaby to Open Eyes" for the company. Leigh-Ann Cohen, formerly of
Ballet Jurgen, Metropolitan Ballet Theater and Pennsylvania Ballet, and an
accomplished choreographer in both Canada and the US has set "Tempered Stance" a
study of pose, involvement and condition. Christine Juarez, Preparatory Dance
Program faculty member, has created a new work " La Celebration de Printemps" a
multi level piece including Advanced, Intermediate and Apprentice dancers
interacting in a playful way. Paula Peters, former Spectrum dancer, Cornish College
of the Arts graduate and adjunct faculty member has created a new work, "Getting
from here to there" exploring community, individuals and relationships particular to
youth. In addition we will be joined in performance by Markeith Wiley and Anna
Lizette-Conner, dance students at Cornish College of the Arts, will join us in
performance. They are performing "Little Bold" a collaborative piece created for
the 2009 Cornish College of the Arts BFA concert.
