Winner of the 23rd International Competition for Choreographers Hannover
11th and 12th April 2009
taking place during “OsterTanzTage” of Staatsoper Hannover

Welcome,

In 2009 it was already the 23rd International Competition for Choreographers
which took place in Hanover. Within the last years it has become an conspicuou
s factor on the national and international dance scene.

This year the pre-selection with Ed Wubbe, Jörg Mannes and Eva-Maria Lerchenbe
rg-Thöny, had to chose between nearly 170 choreographics, until 15 were
permitted to the presentation..

The choosing of the finalists was very difficult because the level of
the choreographics was very high. „The variety and spectrum of the works
is also a positive signal for the international competition“ explained
Ed Wubbe, artistic director of the competition.
For the final there were chosen 7 choreographies out of the 15 admitted
works: Michal Rynia/Zoran Markovic, Jérôme Delbey, Rosana Hribar/Gregor
Luštek, Xiaohe Liu/Disha Zhang/Juanjuan Sun, Alan Lucien Öyen, Armando
Braswell und Mirko Guido.

Director Donlon Dance Company / Ballett des Saarländischen Staatstheaters;
Eva-Maria Lerchenberg-Thöny, Director Tanztheater am Staatstheater Braunschwe
ig; Constanza Macras, Director Dorky Park; Jörg Mannes, Director Ballett
Staatsoper Hannover; Ana Mondini, free choreographer; Ed Wubbe, Director
Scapino Ballet Rotterdam; Richard Wherlock, Director Ballet Basel; Christiane
Winter, Directorin TanzTheater International, Hannover- presented the
following winner:

1. prize Alessandro Pereira, Brasilia “Crossing Silence”
engaged: Danish Dance Theatre

2. prize Sanghyue Jung, Korea “Black Suit”
engaged “New meta dance project” of
Chungnam Nationality University

3. prize Zufit Simon, Israel „Meine Mischpuche“

3. prize Sharon Fridman, Israel “Carlos & Me”



The critics jury - Kerstin Hergt, Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung; Henning
Queren, Neue Presse Hannover; Jochen Schmidt, free journalist; Marcelle
Schots, De Theatermaker and Katja Werner, Ballett International
- presented their

critics prize to Zen Jefferson, Schweiz “Little Red rides through
the hood“
engaged: Staatsheater Wiesbaden

In addition to that the audience bestowed the

audience prize to Zen Jefferson, Schweiz “Little Red rides through
the hood“

and Ed Wubbe presented the

Scapino-production-prize to Alessandro Pereira, Brasilia “Crossing
Silence”

1. prize: 6.000 EUR, 2. prize: 3.000 EUR, 3. prize: 2.000 EUR, price of
the critics: 1.500 EUR and audience prize: 1.000 EUR.
