BAX/BROOKLYN ARTS EXCHANGE ANNOUNCES ITS
2006/07 ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE
AND SPACE GRANT RECIPIENTS


BAX/Brooklyn Arts Exchange is pleased to announce the selection of its 2006/07
Artists in Residence. Theater artists Baraka de Soleil and Young Jean Lee join
choreographers Faye Driscoll and Shannon Hummel. These four exceptional artists will
develop and perform new work, and utilize BAX as their artistic home base during the
2006/07 season. Artists in Residence (AIR) are chosen by competitive panel. Each AIR
presents original work during the BAX Performance season which runs October
2006-June 2007. Second year AIRs also serve as curators for the BAX performance
season. The Artist in Residence program is made possible with public funds from the
New York State Council on the Arts, and with private funds from the Mertz-Gilmore
Foundation, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, and the New York Times Company
Foundation Fund for Midsize Theatres - a project of A.R.T/New York. For more

2006/07 Space Grants have been awarded to dance/theater artists Andrew Dinwiddie and
Nellie Tinder, theater artists Michael Burke, Christopher Eaves/eavesdrop and Aya
Ogawa/ knife inc. and choreographers Natalie Green and Michael Helland. These
Brooklyn-based artists, chosen through competitive panel, receive up to 70 hours of
free rehearsal space and will develop and perform new work during their residencies
as part of BAX's 2006/07 Performance Season. The Space Grant program is supported in
part by the Dance and Theater Programs of the New York State Council on the Arts and
the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs
