The visually striking 'Marjorie's World Unhinged', is a highly theatrical,
imaginative dance piece with a unique use of set, props and video. Bringing
characters to life that could have jumped out of an Edward Gorey (American
author/illustrator, 1925-2000) illustration - 'Marjorie's World Unhinged'
lets the audience steal a look behind velvet curtains at a beautifully
grotesque world.

Revealing what could happen if instead of our pets we took our imagination
for a walk and let it off the lead, Maresa von Stockert entwines the stories
of six very different characters, each of them looking for their own way of
escaping reality - be it by dreaming of floating into the clouds hanging
onto a helium balloon or flying away on the back of a moth. Characters
ranging from aging ballerinas to factory workers and would be circus stars,
will be brought to life by Tilted Productions' multigenerational company of
six outstanding performers.

This production was developed through Jerwood Changing Stages Choreolab 2 at
DanceXchange.

Co-comissioned by South Bank Centre and DanceEast.

Supported by Arts Council England, the Mercury Theatre Colchester and LABAN.

Maresa von Stockert is an Associate Artist of DanceEast and 2007 Artist in
Residence at the South Bank Centre.

About the work

Led by artistic director Maresa von Stockert, Tilted Productions is
dedicated to creating high quality dance theatre that is entertaining as
well as thought-provoking and innovative. The work combines visually
striking imagery, captivating theatrical concepts and fascinating dance that
is full of unusual virtuosity. Other Tilted Productions trademarks are a
unique use of set and props, dark humour and social comment exposing
instincts, fears and desires. The ironic and grotesque but also the subtle
and vulnerable in human behaviour, delivers the inspirational starting point
for the works of Tilted Productions.

MARESA VON STOCKERT - biography

Maresa von Stockert came to the UK in 1999 to set up her own dance theatre
company in London. Since then she has received wide recognition for her work
that stands out through its unique combination of visually striking imagery
and theatrically charged physicality.

In 2005 the company toured More Grim[m] Desires, a 75 minute stage piece
funded by the Arts Council England and the Jerwood Charity. More Grim[m]
Desires originated from the site-specific piece Grim[m] Desires, created by
von Stockert in 2004, which was commissioned by The Wapping Project and the
Jerwood Charity. Grim[m] Desires was a sell-out success and ran for four
solid weeks at The Wapping Project.

Associate Artist at The Place, London from 2002 - 2004, Maresa von Stockert
is currently Associate Artist at DanceEast and from 2007 she will be Artist
in Residence at The South Bank, London. Winner of the 2005 Time Out Live
Award for Outstanding Choreography, Maresa's work has been performed at the
Clore Studio at the Royal Opera House, LABAN London, The Robin Howard Dance
Theatre at The Place, The Bloomsbury Theatre and Jacksons Lane. Maresa von
Stockert has also worked on numerous stage commissions for other dance
companies, most recently creating polystyrene dreams for Phoenix Dance
Theatre, which was performed at Sadler's Wells in London in May 2004 and
toured worldwide alongside pieces by Rui Horta, Henri Oguike and Darshan
Singh Bhuller.
