OREGON BALLET THEATRE UNVEILS
2006-2007 COMPANY ROSTER
Portland, Ore. - OREGON BALLET THEATRE (CHRISTOPHER STOWELL, ARTISTIC DIRECTOR)
announces its 2006-2007 company roster. The company has increased to 26 (from 25)
and five new dancers have joined.
The 2006 - 2007 company:

Two of the five new dancers - Ms. Krochik and Ms. Simnitt - were
apprentices last year and Ms. Simnitt trained at the School of Oregon
Ballet Theatre. Ms. Cooper and Mr. Frye join OBT from the professional
division of Pacific Northwest Ballet School. Mr. Dmitrenko, a native of
Moscow, danced previously with Columbia Classical Ballet in South
Dancer Kester Cotton has retired from full-time, contracted work with
OREGON BALLET THEATRE. He plans to remain close to the company and
organization as an instructor and guest dancer, as the opportunity
arises. Mr. Cotton is married to OBT dancer Kathi Martuza.
The much-anticipated harbinger of the fall arts season, OBT Exposed!, a
week of free open-air rehearsals for all enjoy, takes place Tuesday,
Sept. 5 to Saturday, September 9 on a tented stage in the South Park
Blocks behind Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall (between Main and Salmon).
The event takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Tuesday to Friday,
and 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. General information: 503-227-0977;
Founded in 1989, OREGON BALLET THEATRE is a not-for-profit, professional ballet
company, with a school, based in Portland, Oregon. On July 1, 2003, Christopher
Stowell became OREGON BALLET THEATRE's artistic director and Damara Bennett joined
OBT as school director. OREGON BALLET THEATRE offers the highest quality ballet, in
a repertoire of classic and contemporary work, to the people of Oregon, the Pacific
Northwest and the United States. The School's mission is the pursuit of excellence
in dance training to produce pre-professional dancers of the highest caliber and
increase the community's awareness of dance.
