IN 14TH SEASON, LUCKMAN FINE ARTS COMPLEX OFFERS

RICHNESS, DIVERSITY, FREE OPENING CONCERT AT CAL STATE L.A.

Ravi Coltrane, Roy Haynes, Sandra Tsing Loh, the Groovaloos,
Mavis Staples, and Contemporary Legend Theatre from Taiwan
Among Featured Performers New to the Luckman

Los Angeles - To launch its 2006-2007 performance series of diverse music,
dance and theatre, the Luckman Fine Arts Complex at California State
University, Los Angeles will present a free outdoor concert, Tribute to
Oliver Nelson, by the internationally renowned Luckman Jazz Orchestra
Saturday, Oct. 7, at 6:00 p.m. on the campus's Luckman Street of the Arts.

The series, which concludes in June, will include at least 17 other
performances, including several free events.

Wendy A. Baker, newly appointed executive director for the Luckman, says,
"There is more for a wide variety of audiences to enjoy than ever before as
the Luckman Complex moves ahead into its 14th year. Besides appealing to
loyal patrons who return each year, the 2006-07 season is designed to engage
previously untapped audience segments as well. Ravi Coltrane, Sandra Tsing
Loh, and Contemporary Legend Theatre of Taiwan are just a few of the
exciting artists scheduled."

Citing the Luckman as "an outstanding cultural resource for the entire
region," Baker says, "I am delighted to invite the community to participate
in free activities - such as salsa and mambo lessons, artist talks and
Saturday-morning musical programs."

Performers new to the Luckman Theatre this season will include Ravi Coltrane
and Roy Haynes in a John Coltrane Tribute, the Big 3 Palladium Orchestra,
Mavis Staples, dance ensemble Urban Bush Women, and Taiwan's Contemporary
Legend Theatre.

Cal State L.A.'s Luckman Jazz Orchestra will perform in October, January and
April; and it will share the stage with the Los Angeles Master Chorale at
Walt Disney Concert Hall on March 4. Other perennial favorites returning to
the Luckman Theatre will be LatinJazz Christmas with Dr. Bobby Rodriguez,
Ballet Hispanico, and Grandeza Mexicana Folk Ballet Company.

Coming to the complex's smaller Intimate Theatre will be the hip-hop musical
Groovaloo and two holiday-themed productions - Danza Floricanto/USA's Dia de
los Muertos, and Sugar Plum Fairy, written and performed by Sandra Tsing
Loh.

To offer what Baker calls "family-friendly, community-oriented programs,"
the season will include several free performances, including "Music
Unwrapped" from Southwest Chamber Music, Latin social dance lessons taught
by members of Ballet Hispanico, and other special activities yet to be
announced. To make a Luckman event more memorable, guests may arrange to
dine at the adjacent University Club before selected performances.

Tickets are available through the Luckman Box Office: (323) 343-6600 or
Ticketmaster: www.ticketmaster.com <http://www.ticketmaster.com/> .

With two state-of-the-art theatres and a critically acclaimed art gallery,
the Luckman Fine Arts Complex enjoys a reputation for presenting world-class
music, dance, theatre, and visual arts programming in a beautiful,
accessible setting. The Luckman is located on the campus of California State
University, Los Angeles at 5151 State University Drive, near the convergence
of the 10 and 710 freeways. Parking for ticketed performances is provided at
no additional charge. A full schedule of upcoming performances follows, and
