Hello Friends and Supporters!
I am thrilled to report that TLD has been commissioned by Vermont
Performance Lab for a ten-day residency at Marlboro College in
September. The residency will facilitate the development of Roman
Sketches, a new Fuller-inspired trio set to the music of American
impressionist composer Charles Griffes. The work is completely
collaborative in its conception, aiming—as Fuller did a century ago
—to synthesize movement, with music, lighting, costuming and scenic
design.

The past few months have been a whirlwind of activity for Time Lapse
Dance, with performances in Cambridge, MA (click here for Marcia
Siegel's review), Florida State University, Anaheim, CA, and in
Winston Salem, NC (click here for preview), as well as more Tea
Dances, hoop classes, and Loie Fuller lectures. (Click here for a
podcast about Loie).

The set for Roman Sketches consists of six moveable mirror-doors that
will kaleidoscopically reflect the swirling costumes of three dancers
—myself and TLD company members Kelly Hayes and Lisa Natoli.
Lighting designer David Ferri will create a luminous architecture
complementing the visual design. The costumes, designed by Michelle
Ferranti, will rival in elegance and sheer loveliness all her prior
silk concoctions. The lush piano music will be recorded by Jeffrey
Middleton and the set designed by Philip Drew.

Although we are grateful that the residency will provide us with time
and space for experimentation with theatrical synthesis, the Vermont
Performance Lab cannot cover all of the production costs associated
with the creation of Roman Sketches. To ensure the success of this
project, we need your support to help pay for set and costume
construction, music recording, additional rehearsal space, among
other expenses.

TLD gratefully accepts tax-deductible contributions through our
fiscal sponsor, The Field. If you wish to contribute, please click
here (for on-line giving), or make your check payable to “The
Field,â€
