ATLANTA BALLET PRESENTS GISELLE

(Atlanta, Georgia) Atlanta Ballet's upcoming season will open in classic
style with Giselle at the Fabulous Fox Theatre, October 26 through the
29.

Giselle is considered one of the ballet world's greatest romantic offerings. This is
the story of a young peasant girl driven to madness, and ultimately death, upon the
discovery of deception by her lover.

After a season of beloved favorites, including Carmina Burana, Madame Butterfly and
Beauty and the Beast, McFall is taking a different approach with material that will
be new to Atlanta audiences.

Giselle was conceived by French poet Theophile Gautier in the mid-19th
century. It opened to critical and public acclaim for choreography, sets
and music. The story has remained the same, but the choreography has
evolved as the ballet has gone through both French and Russian
translations over the years.

"Our version will be a collaboration of the past choreographies," said
John McFall, Atlanta Ballet Artistic Director. "What is so exciting
about this ballet is that it is the birth of a genre. Audiences will see
where other classics such as Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty originated."

Nearly half of the original version, performed until 1849 at the Paris Opera Ballet,
was mimed, whereas very little of McFall's 2006 production will be. There will be a
flavor of tradition as dance icon Violette Verdy, who ran the Paris Opera House,
will be helping to set some of Atlanta Ballet's production.

2006/2007 Season ticket packages are on sale now starting as low as
$54.00. The Premiere subscription package includes Giselle, The Great
Gatsby, An Evening of New Works, and Sleeping Beauty. Season subscribers

Ballet's Nutcracker, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty. The
three-performance package starts as low as $32.00.
