The mission of the biannual Repertoire Workshop is to encourage dancers to study and
perform in Brooklyn by providing a studio in which to learn repertoire. In recent
years, Brooklyn has become a destination for dance rehearsals and performances,
however, relatively few workshops exist city-wide to give students a chance to learn
the repertoire of seasoned and emerging choreographers. The next Repertoire
Workshop will be offered in January 2007 with guest artist Camille Brown. Workshop
scholarships are offered to further encourage dancers to participate in classes in
A scholarship audition will be held on Wednesday September 6 from 10am-2pm at Union
StreetDance. Three dancers will be selected to receive full scholarships to
participate in all of the classes offered in the Repertoire Workshop.
Eva Dean has created forty dances over the past 25 years and founded Eva Dean Dance
in 1985. In addition, she has developed a unique dance technique that helps dancers
to lengthen and strengthen their careers by using physio balls as their dancing
partners. In 2001, Ms. Dean opened Union StreetDance, Eva Dean Dance's home base
and dance studio, in Brooklyn. The studio offers subsidized rehearsal space rental
to the New York City dance community. She has also taught for the past fifteen
years at colleges, in professional dance studios, and in New York City Public
Schools as a guest artist, as well at her own studio. She was Vice President of the
Brooklyn Dance Consortium from 1991 to 1994. She was a Dance Committee Member for
the 92nd Street Y Harkness Dance Center from 1990 to 1995.
Kristen Hollinsworth (dancer) has worked with Susan Marshall since 1994. She has
also danced with the Metropolitan Opera since 1998 in numerous productions. In New
York, she has had the pleasure of working with Karen Graham, Cherylyn Lavagnino,
Doug Varone and, in San Francisco, with Cheryl Chaddick and Della Davidson. She is
featured in two dance films choreographed by Nina Winthrop and directed by Morleigh
Steinberg. Her collaborative work includes three projects with choreographer Lea
Wolf and a project with Mark DeChiazza that was presented in San Francisco, Cape Cod
and New York. Ms. Hollinsworth has most recently staged Kiss on Pacific Northwest
Ballet, as well as staging Working Memory and other works by Susan Marshall. Ms.
Hollinsworth is also Susan Marshall & Company's Tour and Residency Manager.
Claudia MacPherson joined Eva Dean Dance in November 2003 and has taught "Balls"
Dance Technique at Union StreetDance for the past year. She has performed BOUNCE
numerous times throughout NYC and internationally, featured in the duet Pearl with
Eva Dean. She also performs with The Tattooed Ballerinas of Hattie Mae Williams.
An extremely versatile performer, Ms. MacPherson's strength lies in her ability to
capture the spirit of each dance in which she performs. She received her B.F.A. in
Dance from the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center and Fordham University where she
worked with many choreographers, including Jennifer Muller, Nathan Trice, and Kevin
Wynn. Ms. MacPherson resides in NYC, but calls Kentucky home.
