Tony Waag's Tap City 2006 continues at The Duke with two programs:
Tap Forward: Saturday July 15, Tuesday July 18, Thursday July 20, Saturday July 22 - performances at 7 PM & 9:30 PM - Performers include Max Pollak's Rumba Tap, Kazu Kumagai (Japan), Walter Freeman, Omar Edwards, Barbara Duffy & Company, Tapeplas (Spain/Israel), Ritmico (Brazil), and others.
Tap & Song: Sunday July 16 at 3 & 7 PM; Wednesday July 19 & Friday July 21 at 7 PM & 9:30 PM - A Salute to Vaudeville, with performances by Mable Lee and Her Dancing Ladies, Captain Harold Cromer, Miriam Nelson (Ms. Nelson is Sunday only) - all over 80 and still going strong - Nate Cooper, Tapage (France/Japan), Karen Callaway Williams, Tap and Tray (Germany), Tony Waag, and others.

Charles Anderson's young company from the Bay Area in works by Twyla Tharp (Country Dances), Patrick Corbin (Partly Cloudy), Alexandre Proia (excerpt from A World to Come), and director Anderson, formerly with New York City Ballet (Hush and Aposiopesis).

NEW GENERATION DANCE COMPANY

Black White Tango, with choreography by Dardo Galletto of Argentina, teacher of Tango in New York City and former member of Julio Bocca's Ballet Argentino. The company's 12 dancers will be joined by guests Elizabeth Mertz and Luciana Paris of ABT for all performances, and Mariela Franganillo and Cecilia Saia of Broadway's "Forever Tango" (opening night only). Opening Night Program is a combination of Programs A & B; Program A features dances to music by Astor Piazzolla (July 28 at 8 PM & July 29 at 3 PM; Program B features dances to music by Ravel (July 29 at 8 PM & July 30 at 3 PM).

Heading into its 60th Anniversary, the Limon Company will appear in this free outdoor concert in The Moor's Pavane and an excerpt from A Choreographic Offering by Jose Limon; Evening Songs by Jiri Kylian;

25TH ANNIVERSARY of Jonathan Hollander's Downtown Dance Festival. A champion of dance in downtown Manhattan, Hollander has presented more than 150 companies over the years. For this special season, the line-up includes the Lazar Ballet (Elie Lazar), Naganuma Dance, New Generation Dance, Kathak Ensemble, New York Chinese Cultural Center, Vissi Dance, Cara Surico, Rebudal Dance, Slamfest, Dzul Dance, and Ocean of Light, a homage to the victims of Katrina and the Tsunami, including an ensemble of dancers from New Orleans who were displaced by Katrina.
