Dance Review: ³At La MaMa, Couples Bicker and Bond²
By Gia Kourlas, Published: June 19, 2006
³La MaMa E.T.C. remains one of those rare places in the East Village that
still feel like the East Village and not the backdrop of an MTV spring-break
special. That's not the only reason to pay a visit to this experimental
theater. For the next three weeks, Nicky Paraiso and Mia Yoo have organized
La MaMa Moves!, a rambunctious festival of six programs, arranged by
theme.... "Seatbelt," by Tom Pearson, Marissa Nielsen-Pincus and Zach
Morris, took a darker view of a relationship. Narrated in song by Russell M.
Kaplan, who also played accordion, the work's aggressive lifts and tense
stillness were familiar fare.²
