Pier 63 Maritime, West 23rd Street at the Hudson River (take the westbound 23rd Street crosstown bus to the end of the line)
The opening social event for Tap City 2006 - a fun and friendly gathering, free admission and entertainment - cash bar and food, held on Pier 63 Maritime, a former barge-turned-cafe. Performers, faculty and staff will be on hand for a high-spirited event to kick off Tap City 2006 (July 8-22, classes & workshops; July 11-22, performances at The Duke on 42nd Street).
"SAND DANCE AT SUNSET'
Monday July 10, 7 to 9 PM
Marcus Garvey Amphitheater in Harlem, 122nd St & Mt. Morris Park West (#2 or #3 train to 125th Street station)
Dancer Guillen Alonso of Barcelona will teach the basics of the traditional sand dance from the Golden Age of American Vaudeville. Bring your leather soled shoes.
